We will have various divisions, Sunday competitors get a players pack with a Free disc and a Free awesome LoO VIII T-shirt (while they last).
Saturday - The Quadruped:
The Quadruped is the premier long distance competition and this is the final Quad of the year! There will be an "open" division for pros - and a "Men's or Women's" division for non-pros! The Quad is a GREAT head to head competition with strategy as well as long throws. You don't always have to be the farthest thrower to win. Check out the rules below for more info.
Quadruped is $35 - rules here
Saturday night - the KCDD will host a get together from 6 until 10 with food and non-alcoholic drinks for everyone!!! You can bring your own alcohol - the location is the Union Pacific Depot - 402 N 2nd St, Lawrence, KS 66044 We will have food there at about 6:30
The unique thing to this years Land of Oz is the 1st annual Disc Dogger musician's jam and sing along. If you are a musician - check the facebook event and let us know if you want to bring a guitar or sing. We won't have room for drums - sorry - or loud amps, so think more acoustic. We will discuss what we will be playing, but for sure doing a few chorus sing alongs you will know. ;)
Sunday - Skyhoundz Open Qualifer Events:
Open Division (Expert, Intermediate, and Novice - Expert and Intermediate is Freestyle & Distance/Accuracy combined)
Microdog Division (Expert class only - Freestyle & Distance/Accuracy combined)
Microdog Sport (Distance/Accuracy only)
Youth Division (Expert class only - Freestyle & Distance/Accuracy combined)
Pairs Freestyle Divison (Expert class only - Freestyle only)
Sport Division (Expert, Intermediate and Novice - Distance/Accuracy only)
Youth Division competitors must be 15 years of age or younger as of December 31st of the year in which they are competing in the Youth Division.
All Expert Freestyle divisions are $25 and Sport or D/A is $20. Intermediate Freestyle is $20. All Novice divisions are $15 per team, per event. Read the official Skyhoundz rules here
We will be running two fields on Sunday - Main field will start with Freestyle and second field will start with D/A.
All divisions will be cut to the top 15 for the second round (All cuts and rules subject to change depending on number of competitors, weather etc). Intermediate Freestyle will be one round of Freestyle - and then one round of D/A for the top 15. Novice Freestyle will just be one round of Freestyle.
Master's Minute - This year we will also feature our event the "Master's Minute". This is for retired disc dogs who no longer compete in the regular competitions. You will have one minute to take the field with your best buddy and do whatever you like - some toss and catch, some freestyle moves, just a couple of rollers - whatever you want. Everyone in the crowd will be supporting you and cheering for your dog. There is no reason for older disc dogs to think they no longer can play. You have to sign up for the Master's Minute at registration, you will get one minute on the field - there is no cost.
Monday - The 8th annual Land of Oz Disc Golf Day:
We will play two world class disc golf courses in Kansas City. Everyone who plays on Saturday or Sunday is welcome to join us for the only official Disc Doggers Disc Golf Tournament! No fee to play!
Kansas State Champion: ALL teams (one person and one dog) who choose to pay the $5 fee to be eligible for the KS state champ in either Advanced or Intermediate - could be the champ in that division. You do NOT have to have a dog in all three events. (Quad, Sport D/A and Freestyle.) You could come with one dog and win the Quad and sport D/A and not even do Freestyle and still win the overall. This opens the championship up to everyone!!! Of course doing well in all three events will still give you the best chance - but is not a requirement. Points will be awarded based on your finish in each event. The fee to be eligible for the KS State Championship is $5 per team - so make sure you check that box or let them know at registration which teams you want to be in the running for the overall.
Bring your dogs, discs, crates, water, chairs, and have a great time! All dogs must be on a leash or crated when they are not competing due to City law, so please no dogs running loose, and of course please pick up after them so we get asked back! Make sure your dog is current on all shots. This event is taking place at a Sports complex where there will be other events happening and we will have spectators, so we ask that everyone conduct themselves in a family friendly manner including making sure your Freestyle music is family friendly.
There is camping at Clinton Lake state park - which is a quarter mile from the field. http://ksoutdoors.com/State-Parks/Locations/Clinton
