- COVID 19 Information
Due to the coronavirus regulations that are in effect, we will be following the state guidelines regarding social distancing. We will also ask:
1. Tents will be setup with a 6' space between them.
2. No "gathering" at registration/merch tent
3. We will be asking everyone who can to pre-register and pre-pay to avoid too many people trying to get registered in the morning of the event.
4. Disc practice/warming up will be limited - please use the 6' rule of distancing yourself from others while on the field
5. Don't pick up any disc that is not yours - Make sure your name is on yours
6. While masks are not required - if you feel safer wearing a mask, please do so. Also know that some dogs may react to the unusual look of someone with a mask so just be aware.
If everyone just respects each other and uses common sense we will be able to have a great event with no issues! This year is certainly unique in the way we will be approaching this event, but hopefully the joy it will bring us all and our canines will be worth the extra work to follow the guidelines.
Join the KCDD as we put on the Land of Oz X Kansas State Disc Dog Championships, and host the long distance competition The Quadruped and the Skyhoundz Open World Qualifier! We will be running two fields on Sunday - Main field will start with Freestyle and second field will start with D/A.
All divisions will be cut to the top 15 for the second round (All cuts and rules subject to change depending on number of competitors, weather etc). - (Skyhoundz cut is after first round of Freestyle) - Intermediate Freestyle will be only one round of Freestyle (The Freestyle score will be doubled - and added to one round of D/A.) Novice Freestyle will just be one round of Freestyle. (No D/A with novice Freestyle.)
Master's Minute - This year we will also feature our event the "Master's Minute". This is for retired disc dogs who no longer compete in the regular competitions. You will have one minute to take the field with your best buddy and do whatever you like - some toss and catch, some freestyle moves, just a couple of rollers - whatever you want. Everyone in the crowd will be supporting you and cheering for your dog. There is no reason for older disc dogs to think they no longer can play. You have to sign up for the Master's Minute at registration, you will get one minute on the field - there is no cost.
Freestylers!!! Please email your music to Mmatson@me.com - Put "Land of Oz" in the subject line. We want all music loaded in ahead of time! Thanks!
Kansas State Champion: ALL who choose to pay the $5 fee to be eligible for the KS state champ in either Advanced or Intermediate - could be the champ in that division. One fee of $5 covers all of the dogs that you are playing with. You do NOT have to have a dog in all three events. (Quad, Sport D/A and Freestyle.) You could come with one dog and win the Quad and sport D/A and not even do Freestyle and still win the overall. This opens the championship up to everyone!!! Of course doing well in all three events will still give you the best chance - but is not a requirement. Points will be awarded based on your finish in each event, and will be based on each team. So if Dog A finishes well in the Quad and Dog B finishes well in Freestyle - these points do not combine for overall. Each dog gets the points they get.... Also, the "Advanced" level will consider placement in the Quad "Open" division and Skyhoundz "Expert" division - the "Intermediate" champion will come from a combination of Quad "Men's" or "Women's" division and Skyhoundz Intermediate division.
DISCS - for the Quadruped only Fastback shaped discs (Hero Airs and Extras, Fastbacks, Hyperflight Zs) that are 110 grams or less will be allowed. There will be a scale there so please weigh your discs (especially Z discs as they are not always light enough) For the Skyhoundz Classic on Sunday ONLY Hyperflite discs are allowed. (We will have discs for sale at the event)
Bring your dogs, discs, crates, water, chairs, and have a great time! All dogs must be on a leash or crated when they are not competing due to City law, so please no dogs running loose, and of course please pick up after them so we get asked back! Make sure your dog is current on all shots.
